Ashleigh, a vibrant and optimistic individual, was referred to Shanti Aid in 2023 by Chase Morgan Solicitors. Despite her bubbly personality, Ashleigh faced significant hardships due to her financially controlling and abusive ex-partner, who evicted her and their children from their home, leaving them without income or secure accommodation.
Ashleigh had to rebuild her life from scratch while setting a positive example for her three young sons. She managed to secure a council house, but it was unfurnished, and she struggled to provide for her family.
How we helped: Shanti Aid stepped in to support Ashleigh by partnering with the Emergency Essentials programme by Children in Need to provide beds for her children. The charity also worked with the National Lottery to supply food and toiletries, helping her furnish her home. Ashleigh’s involvement in the Chai & Chat sessions further boosted her confidence and sense of community.
Ashleigh’s journey is one of triumph over adversity. With the support of Shanti Aid, she has not only rebuilt her life but is also pursuing a degree at Wolverhampton University while raising her three sons. Ashleigh is now a passionate advocate for Shanti Aid, mentoring and supporting other women in the community. Her story is a powerful example of what can be achieved through courage, resilience, and the right support.
